Award winning composer and film maker/editor John Alder has worked widely in various areas of media and arts.
Starting out as a founder member of The Jags, he has progressed on to work as a session guitarist and vocalist with producers such as Steve Levine and Simon Humphrey, to name but two, playing with acts such as The Beach Boys, Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers and P. P. Arnold, to name but three, and released a single entitled Believin’ It All (now lost in the mists of time), co-written by Boy George and produced by Steve Levine. He then moved on to writing music for television and has produced literally hundreds of lovely tunes for BBC1, BBC2, Channel 4 and Sky TV, to name but f...(that’s enough of that).
In recent years, while still composing for TV, he has broadened his horizons to compose for theatre, working with companies such as the renowned Northern Stage, Quarantine, Walk the Plank and Théatre du Styx, and lately has widened his talents even further by filming and producing beautiful and disturbing video work for these companies’ theatre productions.
His video and music, as well as touring nationally has also shown and been heard in France, Holland and Finland and featured, and will again this year, in the Newcastle AVFest.
